The Reflection Only Shows Where You’ve Been.

It’s when we become secure in our relationship with God that we begin to allow the past to fall from us as a garment.~ Bishop T.D Jakes, Woman Thou Art loosed.

Lengthy title I know but how are you all doing? Today’s prompt is Reflection. I am loving this challenge as it has helped me be responsible in my writing.

Hurt and Chaos

Looking back into the life I’ve lived in my 2 and something decades, I see a girl who strives and achieves. I see her walking amidst chaos, hurt, self doubt and self criticism. Self doubt, always the one thing that brought her down, bringing her to a step lower than people’s expectations of her achievements.

I see a girl reaching out to God in the midst of pain, so much she wished He were human so as to hug Him forever. Once she thought we were all characters of another Bible yet to be written, each with a story to tell. Not her fault, the Bible was introduced as school work not as The Word. I see a girl who conquered all with the Father at her side, against all odds. Did she learn through the sorrow? All was it just sorrow?

Looking in the mirror, all she sees is where she has been, not where she’s going. All she sees is that she survived, not unscathed, but she survived.

Diamonds from Dusts

Right now, I don’t look back as much. If you look back a lot you might fall into old habits. The Bible also says it’s stupid to wish that things could be the way they were before. All I know is that the past is too small to contain the person I have become and becoming.

When I look into the mirror, all I see is where I have been.  When I look into the mirror I see determination, I see a story to be written, a song to be sang, I see hope. The mirror is where I give myself pep talks, talk the Word into my life and encourage myself.

The people around me do reflect my values. Sometimes especially in our workplaces or school this may not always be the case but it’s always good to achieve balance and have people in your life that promote your well being as a person. However, don’t be selfish but have boundaries.
I reflect on my values all the time, or when an issue is pressing me. Nowadays I’m working on choosing what works for me and not other people, because what works for them may not be in line with my values or bring me happiness.

I reflect at times, to ascertain what works in y life and what doesn’t, what needs alteration and what needs to be thrown away. I reflect to bring peace, order and growth.
Do you reflect? If so, how? What do you see when you look into  the mirror? Let me know in the comments.

Love, S.

Thank you for this peace. It’s exactly what I have been feeling in my spirit. I’m fighting procrastination about sharing my personal stories on my blog. I reflect a lot…. what I have been through, how I transformed and look in at my scars I see growth and strength and courage. I have certainly been somewhere and one day I will share more of myself and journey. Thank you

You’re are welcome. Sometimes I also wonder if I share a lot. But I embrace my sharing personality and keep it moving. I tell myself that my blog is my meeting, I want to inspire and if the content doesn’t suit a person, they can always find something on the web. Overall, if you want to be an overcomer, you have to overcome something.

This is beautiful! What a great perspective on who you’ve been and who you’re becoming. <3
