This is Why You Can’t Join the Medium Partner Program

Even if your country is Stripe supported

Many of you have reached out with regards to joining the Medium Partner program and creating stripe accounts after reading the above stories. I have replied to each one of you but the information I gave you is outdated as I joined the partner program almost 2 years ago.

Whilst you may be able to create a stripe account successfully, you’ll not be able to integrate it with Medium if you’re strictly not from these medium partner program supported countries:

Medium’s Reply to a User who has a Stripe account but not from any of the above medium partner program supported countries

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Currently, enrollment in the Partner Program is only available in the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.

If your country is not included in that list, we are unfortunately unable to connect you to the Partner Program at this time.

This is noted in our article about connecting a Stripe account.

While Stripe may include other countries on the list at their website, or send you an email telling you Stripe has launched in your country or your account has been verified, we are still unable to support countries outside the above list.

We are working on adding more payment options to the Program so that we can open it to writers in all countries. Please bear with us.

I was able to join because I was an early adopter on Medium. Medium may not incorporate the payment options soon, neither with Stripe include your country as soon as you’d want.

Time waits for no one, so I’d suggest you pursue other writing avenues.

While I know Ev is against writers on Medium writing about Medium based on his highlighting habits, I had to make a public service announcement to African, Pacific, and Caribbean writer(s) who would want to reach out to me.

I wish I could help, but as we say in Swahili, bahati ya mwenzio usiilalie mlango wazi. It’s sad, I know. I too would be sad and feel left out as I love the Medium community and the quality of work here. While I may not always be a consistent writer hitting the coveted $100 figure a month, I love it here. I love the freelance clients that found me through Medium.

Try out Vocal as it’s still young, has a lot to improve on, be an early adopter and you might be lucky.
